The Bombay High Court has directed the Unique Identification Authority of India to immediately transfer all application records and enrollment files associated with an undocumented foreign national to the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad. Highlighted in the case titled State of Maharashtra v. Unique Identification Authority of India, a division bench comprising Justice A.S. Gadkari and Justice Kamal Khata stressed that foreign nationals entering the country without authorization and acquiring identity papers through falsified records poses a direct threat to internal security and administrative integrity. Consequently, the court mandated that statutory authorities share enrollment verification data so law enforcement agencies can track how baseline credentials were authenticated.

Expanding the scope of the inquiry, the High Court emphasized that illegal border crossings are frequently supported by organized local networks and cross-border syndicates. The bench instructed investigative authorities to look beyond individual offenders and initiate a thorough probe targeting the masterminds, agents, and local accomplices who forge documents and facilitate unauthorized entries. By mandating close inter-agency coordination between local law enforcement, federal immigration bodies, and identification authorities, the court aimed to dismantle infiltration rackets, eliminate systemic identity fraud, and streamline deportation procedures
