Over 70 petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2024. The petitioners argue that the amendments violate Articles 14, 25, 26, and 300A of the Constitution by interfering with religious endowments management.

The government maintains that the amendments aim to bring transparency and accountability to Waqf board management. The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Union Government and is hearing the matter on a day-to-day basis.
