1) Untouchability is abolished & it's practice in any form is forbidden & Untouchability shall be an offence punishable accordance with law.
2) However, Untouchability is not defined in the constitution.
But Mysore High Court ruled that it should be understood by Historical Caste system.
3) U/A 35 parliament enacted Untouchability (offences) Act, 1955 now renamed as Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955.
4) In Case of People's union for democratic Rights vs UOI, SC held Fundamental Right U/A 17 available against private individuals also even Art. 15(2) provides eradication of untouchability.
