he Patents Act, 1970 provides protection only to genuine inventions that contribute to technological advancement and industrial development. An invention becomes patentable when it is new, inventive, and industrially useful. However, the Act also excludes several categories from patentability in order to protect public interest, morality, traditional knowledge, agriculture, healthcare, and national security.
